Terms of Service

Last updated: 31 May 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Stawka — the VAT, FX and VIES API at stawka.eu (the “Service”) — operated by CodePile Dawid Redes, Wolności 278/0, 41-800 Zabrze, Poland, NIP PL 6482815665 (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By creating an account, generating an API key, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that organization.

2. The Service

Stawka is a read-only REST API that aggregates and serves: VAT rates for EU member states (from the European Commission’s Taxes in Europe Database, TEDB), euro reference exchange rates (from the European Central Bank), and EU VAT-number validation (via the EU VIES system). We provide this data in a single, consistent format as a convenience.

3. Accounts and eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
  • You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
  • The Service is intended for business and professional use.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account and within your organization, including the members you invite.

4. Data accuracy and no professional advice

The data provided through the Service is aggregated from official third-party sources and is offered for informational purposes only, on an “as is” basis.

It does not constitute tax, legal, accounting, or other professional advice, and must not be relied upon as such. While we take care to keep the data accurate and current, we do not warrant that it is complete, accurate, up to date, or fit for any particular purpose. Official rates and rules can change, and the original sources may contain errors or delays.

You are solely responsible for verifying any data before relying on it — for example, before using it in invoicing, tax filings, or accounting — and for your own compliance with applicable tax law.

5. API keys and security

  • Keep your API keys confidential and treat them like passwords.
  • You are responsible for all requests made with your keys.
  • Notify us promptly if a key is lost or compromised.
  • We store only a hash of each key and cannot recover it — rotate or revoke it instead.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service unlawfully or in breach of these Terms;
  • exceed, circumvent, or interfere with rate limits, quotas, or other technical restrictions;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or to other users’ data;
  • reverse engineer, resell, or sublicense the Service except as expressly permitted;
  • use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it.

Use of the VIES validation feature must also comply with the European Commission’s terms for the VIES service.

7. Plans, fees and billing

  • Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, through our payment processor Stripe.
  • Prices are shown in your local currency (PLN or EUR) and, where applicable, are exclusive of VAT, which is added at the applicable rate.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically for successive periods until cancelled.
  • You can cancel at any time in the Customer Portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Except where required by law, fees already paid are non-refundable for partial periods.
  • We may change prices on reasonable advance notice; changes apply from your next billing period.

The free tier is provided at no cost and “as is”; we may change or limit it at any time.

8. Consumers — right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer (you use the Service for purposes outside your trade, business, or profession), you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract. Because the Service is digital content/services supplied immediately, you expressly request that we begin providing it as soon as you subscribe, and you acknowledge that you thereby lose the right of withdrawal once performance has begun, to the extent permitted by law.

9. Availability and changes to the Service

We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and no service-level guarantee applies unless separately agreed in writing. We may perform maintenance and may add, modify, or discontinue features or endpoints. Where a change is material and adverse, we will give reasonable notice where practicable.

10. Intellectual property

We and our licensors own all rights in the Service, including its software, design, and documentation. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the API for your own applications. The underlying public data (VAT rates, FX rates, VIES results) originates from the official sources named above; the value we add is in aggregating and serving it.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Mandatory rights you have as a consumer are not affected.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for damage caused intentionally.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, fail to pay, or use the Service in a way that harms us or others. On termination, your right to use the Service ends, and we may delete your data subject to our Privacy Policy and any legal retention obligations.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Polish law. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts competent for our registered seat, unless mandatory law (for example, consumer-protection law) provides otherwise. Nothing in these Terms deprives a consumer of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of their country of residence.
